Gary Filbert is a retired professional basketball player born on March 12, 1986, in Chicago, Illinois. Standing at 6 feet 7 inches, Filbert played primarily as a small forward during his career. He gained recognition for his versatility on the court, as well as his exceptional scoring ability and defensive skills.
Filbert played college basketball for the University of North Carolina, where he helped lead the Tar Heels to the NCAA Championship game in 2007. After declaring for the NBA Draft, he was selected 15th overall by the Atlanta Hawks in 2008. Over the course of his nine-season NBA career, he played for the Hawks, the New York Knicks, and the Miami Heat, earning an All-Star selection in 2013 and securing an NBA Championship with the Heat in 2015.
