Gene Young (born March 12, 1975) is a former professional basketball player from the United States, known for his exceptional skills as a forward. He gained prominence playing college basketball for the University of North Carolina, where he was a key contributor to the team’s success during his tenure from 1993 to 1997. His performance at the collegiate level included averaging 15.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, leading the Tar Heels to the NCAA Tournament.
After declaring for the NBA Draft, Young was selected in the second round by the Miami Heat in 1997. Over his NBA career, he played for multiple teams, including the Heat, the Chicago Bulls, and the Phoenix Suns, showcasing versatility and athleticism on the court. Notable achievements include his participation in the NBA Playoffs and being recognized for his defensive prowess, earning a spot on the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 2000.
