George Mayes is a former professional American football player known for his contributions as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). Born on January 14, 1985, in Atlanta, Georgia, he played college football at the University of Georgia, where he excelled in tackling and defensive strategies, earning All-SEC honors during his senior year.
Mayes was selected in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. Over the course of his six-year career in the NFL, he played for the Saints and later the Dallas Cowboys, amassing 350 tackles, 10 sacks, and 4 interceptions. His performance was instrumental in helping the Saints clinch the NFC South title in 2009, and he played a key role in their historic Super Bowl XLIV victory.
