Gerhardus "Gerrie" Coetzee, born on April 8, 1955, in Pienaar, South Africa, is a former professional boxer who achieved significant success in the heavyweight division. He turned professional in 1974 and quickly garnered attention for his powerful punching ability and tenacious fighting style. Coetzee became the first South African to win a world heavyweight boxing title when he captured the WBA title in 1983 by defeating Michael Dokes.
