Gerry Holmes is a former professional basketball player known for his remarkable skills as a shooting guard and small forward. Born on March 14, 1960, in New York City, Holmes showcased immense talent during his college years at the University of Houston, where he was part of a team that made significant strides in the NCAA tournament under coach Guy Lewis. His performance at Houston led to his selection in the second round of the 1982 NBA Draft by the New Jersey Nets.

Holmes had a successful NBA career, spanning from 1982 to 1985, in which he played for the New Jersey Nets and later the Utah Jazz. He averaged 10.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game during his time in the league, and is particularly remembered for his sharpshooting and clutch performances.
