Gifford Nielsen, born on October 25, 1954, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Houston Oilers. He attended Brigham Young University (BYU), where he gained recognition for his impressive passing skills and leadership on the field. Nielsen graduated in 1977 and was selected in the 6th round of the 1978 NFL Draft by the Oilers.
