Gigi Fernández, born on February 22, 1964, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is a former professional tennis player who achieved significant success in doubles events during the 1980s and 1990s. She moved to the United States at a young age and developed her skills at the University of Florida, where she became a standout player. Fernández turned professional in 1982 and quickly made her mark on the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) tour.
Throughout her career, Fernández won a total of 17 WTA doubles titles and claimed two Grand Slam doubles championships at the 1992 French Open and the 1995 US Open, both partnering with fellow American player Mary Joe Fernández.
