Biography

Gordon Schmidt is a former professional basketball athlete known for his contributions to the game during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Born on March 15, 1975, in Chicago, Illinois, Schmidt played college basketball at the University of Illinois, where he earned All-American honors and led the team to multiple NCAA tournament appearances. After a successful college career, he was drafted in the second round of the 1997 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks.

Throughout his four-season NBA career, Schmidt played for the New York Knicks, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the San Antonio Spurs. He was recognized for his versatility on the court, playing both as a shooting guard and small forward, and was known for his sharpshooting ability from three-point range. Schmidt’s best season came in 1999 when he averaged 15.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game, establishing himself as a key player on his teams.
