Biography
Greg McDermott, born on November 25, 1964, in Ames, Iowa, is a former professional basketball player and current college basketball coach. McDermott played college basketball at Northern Iowa University, where he was recognized for his scoring ability and playmaking skills. He went undrafted in the 1986 NBA Draft but subsequently played for several teams in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) before transitioning into coaching.
As a coach, McDermott began his career at the collegiate level, taking over programs at several universities, including Wayne State College, North Dakota State University, and the University of Northern Iowa. He gained significant recognition as the head coach at Creighton University, where he led the Bluejays to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances and consistently elevated the program's national profile.
