Greg Schiano, born on June 1, 1966, in Wyckoff, New Jersey, is a prominent American football coach and former player. He played college football as a defensive back at Bucknell University, where he demonstrated a commitment to the sport that would shape his career. After graduating, he transitioned into coaching, starting as a graduate assistant at Rutgers University in 1990.
Schiano gained recognition for his tenure as the head coach of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights from 2001 to 2011, leading the program to significant improvements and their first bowl game victory in 2010. His coaching philosophy emphasized discipline and hard work, which revitalized a struggling program, culminating in a top-25 ranking in 2006.
