Gregg Popovich, born on January 28, 1949, in East Chicago, Indiana, is a renowned American basketball coach and former player. He played college basketball at the United States Air Force Academy and later served as an assistant coach for several college teams. In 1988, he joined the San Antonio Spurs as an assistant coach, eventually becoming the team's head coach in 1996.
