Biography
Harry Roberts (born June 5, 1924) was an accomplished English cricketer who played as a right-arm fast-medium bowler. Roberts made his first-class debut for Sussex in the 1948 season and quickly established himself as a prominent player in county cricket. Over the course of his career, he became known for his consistent performances, particularly during the 1950s when he helped Sussex achieve significant success in the County Championship.
Roberts gained further recognition when he was selected to represent England in Test matches, making his first appearance against South Africa in 1955. He went on to play a total of six Test matches, where he showcased his skill by taking 20 wickets at an average of 30.55. His best Test figures came against New Zealand in 1958, where he took five wickets for 55 runs, earning him a place in the annals of England's cricket history.
After retiring from playing, Roberts continued to contribute to cricket through coaching and various administrative roles. His legacy is remembered not only for his on-field achievements but also for his influence on younger generations of cricketers.
