Biography

Henry Ruggs III is an American football wide receiver born on January 24, 1999, in Montgomery, Alabama. He played college football at the University of Alabama, where he was known for his exceptional speed and playmaking ability. Ruggs distinguished himself in college, recording 98 receptions for 1,716 yards and 24 touchdowns over three seasons, contributing to Alabama's success in the competitive Southeastern Conference (SEC).

In the 2020 NFL Draft, Ruggs was selected as the 12th overall pick by the Las Vegas Raiders, becoming one of the first wide receivers taken off the board. His rookie season showcased his potential as an impact player, finishing with 452 receiving yards and two touchdowns despite the challenges of a shortened offseason due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ruggs quickly became known for his deep threat capability, making significant contributions to the Raiders' offense in his inaugural season.

However, Ruggs's promising career faced a dramatic turn in November 2021 when he was involved in a fatal car accident while driving under the influence. The incident resulted in the tragic loss of a life and led to legal repercussions for Ruggs, ultimately leading to his release from the Raiders. Despite the abrupt end to his professional football career, his early achievements in college and the NFL have left a lasting impression on the sport, highlighting both his potential and the grave consequences of impaired driving.
