Hong Soo-hwan, born on May 26, 1950, in South Korea, is a former professional boxer who gained prominence in the featherweight division during the 1970s. Known for his technical skill and aggressive fighting style, Hong turned professional in 1969 and quickly made a name for himself on the national and international stage.
In 1975, Hong achieved a significant milestone in his career by winning the WBA (World Boxing Association) Featherweight title. His victory was notable for its intensity, as he triumphed over the well-regarded champion, Rodolfo Gato González, in a closely contested match that showcased his resilience and tactical acumen.
