Howie Long, born on January 6, 1960, in Somerville, Massachusetts, is a former professional American football player who played as a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) for the Los Angeles Raiders from 1980 to 1993. He attended Villanova University, where he earned All-American honors before being selected in the second round of the 1981 NFL Draft.
