Hugh Durham, born on October 26, 1937, in the United States, is a former professional basketball player and a noteworthy coach in American college basketball. He played as a forward during his collegiate career at the University of Florida, where he showcased his scoring and rebounding abilities, leading to his selection in the 1959 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia Warriors. Although he played briefly in the NBA, his impact on basketball is more pronounced through his coaching career.

Durham transitioned to coaching, becoming the head coach at the University of Florida from 1971 to 1984, where he revitalized the program and led the Gators to significant success. During his tenure, he earned several accolades, including three Southeastern Conference (SEC) titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament multiple times, culminating in a berth to the NCAA Tournament's Sweet Sixteen in 1987 with the Georgia Bulldogs.
