Hugo Núñez, born on April 14, 1961, in Ecuador, is a former professional tennis player renowned for his contributions to Ecuadorian tennis during the late 1970s and 1980s. He gained significant recognition in 1981 when he became the first Ecuadorian to compete in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament, participating in the French Open. His career-high ATP singles ranking was world No. 49, achieved in 1984.
Núñez represented Ecuador in multiple Davis Cup matches throughout his career, playing a pivotal role in elevating the country's presence in international tennis.
