Igors V. Stepanovs is a retired Latvian professional footballer born on February 20, 1975, in Rīga, Latvia. He primarily played as a defender during his career and became recognized for his strong physical presence and tactical acumen on the field. Stepanovs began his professional career with FC Skonto Rīga in the early 1990s, where he won multiple Latvian championships and earned a reputation as a reliable defender.
In 1999, Stepanovs made a significant leap in his career by signing with Arsenal F.C., becoming one of the first Latvian players to compete in the English Premier League. His tenure at Arsenal included participation in the 1999-2000 UEFA Champions League, where he contributed to the team's defensive lineup.
