Ilkka Heikkinen, born on November 13, 1984, in Oulu, Finland, is a retired professional ice hockey defenseman renowned for his solid two-way play and offensive contributions. Heikkinen was drafted by the New York Rangers in the fourth round, 113th overall, during the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. His early career saw him honing his skills in Finland's top league, the SM-liiga, where he played for multiple teams before venturing abroad.
