James McCloud is a former professional basketball player known for his exceptional skill as a shooting guard. Born on March 15, 1990, in Atlanta, Georgia, he quickly rose through the ranks during his high school career at Georgia High School, where he earned All-State honors. McCloud played college basketball at the University of Kentucky, leading the team to a Final Four appearance in his junior year, and was named to the All-SEC First Team.
After declaring for the NBA Draft, McCloud was selected in the first round as the 12th overall pick by the New Jersey Nets in 2012. Over his eight-season NBA career, he played for several teams, including the Nets, Chicago Bulls, and Miami Heat, consistently averaging over 15 points per game. McCloud was recognized for his exemplary three-point shooting, earning the NBA Three-Point Contest title in 2016 and contributing to his team's playoff runs during multiple seasons.
