Jamie Dixon, born on November 10, 1965, in Escondido, California, is a retired American basketball player and current coach, known for his significant contributions to collegiate basketball. He played point guard at the University of TCU from 1983 to 1987, where he helped lead the team to notable successes, including an NIT appearance. After graduating with a degree in physical education, Dixon leveraged his playing experience into a coaching career.
Dixon began his coaching journey as an assistant at the University of Arkansas, later transitioning to a head coaching position at Pittsburgh in 2003. Under his leadership, the Panthers experienced considerable success, consistently reaching the NCAA tournament and securing multiple Big East Conference championships. He was recognized for his coaching acumen, earning the Big East Coach of the Year award and leading Pittsburgh to the NCAA tournament's Sweet Sixteen on several occasions.
After leaving Pittsburgh, Dixon returned to his alma mater, Texas Christian University (TCU), in 2016 to revitalize the basketball program. His efforts significantly raised TCU's profile in NCAA basketball, culminating in NCAA tournament appearances and improved performance in the Big 12 Conference.
