Biography
Jan Vopat (born March 22, 1973) is a retired Czech professional ice hockey player, recognized for his contributions to the sport both in his home country and internationally. Primarily playing as a defenseman, he began his career in the Czech Extraliga with HC Slovan Bratislava before making a significant impact in European leagues, most notably in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) where he played for clubs such as Krefeld Pinguine and SR Kapa Meteors Graz.
Vopat represented the Czech national team in several prestigious tournaments, including the IIHF World Championships. He was part of the team that secured a gold medal in 1996, playing a vital role in the defense and showcasing his skills on the international stage, which helped elevate the Czech Republic’s reputation in global ice hockey.
