Janne Niinimaa, born on May 22, 1975, in Oulu, Finland, is a retired professional ice hockey player known for his contributions as a defenseman. He began his professional career in the Finnish Liiga with Oulun Kärpät before transitioning to the National Hockey League (NHL) in the late 1990s. Over his career, Niinimaa played for several teams, including the Philadelphia Flyers, New York Islanders, and the Dallas Stars.
Throughout his nine-season NHL career, Niinimaa established himself as a reliable defenseman with strong two-way play and offensive capabilities. He achieved his most notable success during the 2002-03 season when he recorded a career-high 34 points with the Islanders.
