Jared Cowen is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenseman, born on January 25, 1991, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He was drafted 9th overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft after an impressive junior career with the Spokane Chiefs in the Western Hockey League (WHL), where he served as team captain and led the team to a Memorial Cup appearance in 2010.
During his NHL career, which spanned from 2012 to 2017, Cowen played primarily for the Ottawa Senators and later the Toronto Maple Leafs.
