Biography
Jason Botterill, born on May 19, 1976, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, is a former professional ice hockey player and current executive. He played the position of center and was known for his strong two-way play and leadership on the ice. Botterill was drafted in the second round, 20th overall, by the Dallas Stars in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.
During his NHL career, Botterill played for several teams including the Dallas Stars, the New Jersey Devils, and the Atlanta Thrashers. Over parts of six seasons, he registered a total of 22 goals and 37 assists in 179 regular-season games. Botterill also had a successful tenure in the American Hockey League, where he helped the Hamilton Bulldogs capture the Calder Cup in 2007.
Following his playing career, Botterill transitioned to management and was appointed general manager of the Buffalo Sabres in 2017. His tenure with the Sabres saw significant changes in the team's roster and direction, influencing the development of young talent.
