Biography
Javaris Crittenton was born on December 31, 1987, in Atlanta, Georgia. He gained prominence as a standout high school player at the Atlanta Sports Academy before playing college basketball for the Georgia Institute of Technology. Crittenton declared for the NBA Draft in 2007, where he was selected 19th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers.
During his brief professional career, Crittenton played for several teams, including the Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies, and Washington Wizards. He made a modest impact in the NBA, particularly during the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons, where he averaged 3.3 points and 2.7 points per game, respectively. Crittenton is perhaps best known for his association with the infamous locker room incident involving a firearm, which significantly overshadowed his on-court achievements.
Crittenton's career in the NBA was short-lived, ending around 2011, as legal troubles and later criminal charges curtailed his future in professional sports. In 2011, he was arrested in connection with a fatal shooting, leading to a conviction and subsequent imprisonment. Despite the promise he showed as a young athlete, his legacy is notably marked by the dramatic decline from his basketball career to his involvement in crime.
