Jay Berwanger, born on March 19, 1914, in Dubuque, Iowa, was an American football player known for his groundbreaking role as a halfback in the National Football League (NFL). He attended the University of Chicago, where he gained national attention for his outstanding performance, winning the first-ever Heisman Trophy in 1935.
