Biography
Jeff Mead, born on February 10, 1971, in the United States, is a former professional ice hockey defenseman known for his strong defensive skills and leadership on the ice. After completing his collegiate career at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Mead was drafted in the 6th round, 116th overall, by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. He went on to gain recognition in the American Hockey League (AHL) and International Hockey League (IHL), where he played for various teams, including the Hershey Bears and the Michigan K-Wings.
Throughout his career, Mead was noted for his physical style of play and ability to contribute offensively from the blue line. He accumulated over 300 points in professional leagues and was an integral part of championship teams, enhancing his reputation as a reliable defenseman. His most notable achievement came when he was a key player for the IHL's Detroit Vipers, helping the team secure the coveted Turner Cup Championship in 1997.
After retiring from professional play, Mead remained involved in ice hockey through coaching and mentoring young players.
