Biography
Jere Lehtinen, born on June 24, 1973, in Espoo, Finland, is a former professional ice hockey forward renowned for his exceptional two-way game and offensive contributions. Lehtinen began his career in the Finnish leagues before moving to North America, where he was selected in the third round of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars. He made an immediate impact, joining the Stars in 1993 and quickly establishing himself as a key player on the team.
Throughout his NHL career, which spanned from 1992 to 2010, Lehtinen achieved several notable milestones, including winning three Stanley Cups with the Dallas Stars in 1999 and again in 2000 and 2001. A three-time winner of the Frank J. Selke Trophy, awarded to the league's top defensive forward, Lehtinen was celebrated for his work ethic and defensive reliability, alongside his ability to score critical goals. He recorded over 600 points during his NHL career and is remembered as one of the best Finnish players of his generation.
Lehtinen also left a significant mark on international ice hockey, representing Finland in multiple World Championships and Olympic Games.
