Jermain Defoe, born on October 7, 1982, in Beckton, London, is a retired English professional footballer known for his prolific goal-scoring ability. Beginning his career in the youth system of Charlton Athletic, Defoe moved to West Ham United, where he made his professional debut in 1999. After a successful spell with the Hammers, he joined Bournemouth on loan, further developing his skills before moving to Tottenham Hotspur in 2004, where he gained prominence as a top striker.
