Biography
Jiří Fischer, born on July 31, 1980, in Plzeň, Czech Republic, is a former professional ice hockey defenseman. He was drafted in the second round, 50th overall, by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. Fischer began his career with HC Plzeň before moving to North America, where he made his NHL debut with the Red Wings in the 1999-2000 season.
During his time in the NHL, Fischer played primarily with the Detroit Red Wings and registered over 200 regular-season games. He was part of the Red Wings team that won the Stanley Cup in 2002, contributing to the franchise's success during a highly competitive era.
