Jim Benning, born on April 29, 1963, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, is a former professional ice hockey player and a noted executive in the sport. A right winger, Benning was drafted 3rd overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft, and he made his NHL debut during the 1981-82 season. Known for his competitive spirit and offensive skills, he played a pivotal role in the Canucks' run to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1982.
Throughout his career, Jim Benning played for the Vancouver Canucks, the Philadelphia Flyers, and the New York Rangers.
