Biography
Jim Carey, born on May 31, 1974, in the United States, is a former professional ice hockey goaltender who achieved significant recognition in the NHL during the 1990s. After a successful collegiate career at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, he was selected in the second round, 32nd overall, by the Washington Capitals in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. Carey made his NHL debut in the 1994-95 season and quickly became known for his athleticism and quick reflexes.
Carey gained prominence during the 1995-96 season when he was awarded the Vezina Trophy, recognizing him as the league’s top goaltender. He had a standout year, leading the Capitals to the playoffs and finishing the season with a goals-against average of 2.26.
