Jim Covert, born on March 22, 1960, in Oak Park, Illinois, is a former professional American football offensive tackle. He played college football at the University of Pittsburgh, where he was recognized as an outstanding lineman, earning All-American honors in 1982. Following an impressive college career, Covert was selected by the Chicago Bears in the first round of the 1983 NFL Draft as the sixth overall pick.
Covert spent his entire professional career with the Chicago Bears from 1983 to 1990, establishing himself as a key player on the team's offensive line. He was instrumental in the Bears' success during this period, contributing to the team's victory in Super Bowl XX in 1986. Recognized for his exceptional performance, Covert was named to the Pro Bowl twice and was also honored with a place on the NFL's 1980s All-Decade Team.
