Jim Paek, born on April 7, 1967, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, is a retired professional ice hockey player and coach. He played the defenseman position and was notable for being one of the first players of Korean descent to compete in the National Hockey League (NHL). Paek was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the sixth round of the 1985 NHL Entry Draft, marking the beginning of a career that would include significant contributions to various teams in the league.
