Jim Slater is a former professional ice hockey forward born on December 9, 1982, in Lapeer, Michigan, United States. He played college hockey at Michigan State University, where he was recognized for his skill and leadership, culminating in a successful collegiate career that led to his selection as the 30th overall pick in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Atlanta Thrashers.
Slater made his NHL debut during the 2005-06 season and was known for his tenacity and two-way play.
