Biography
Joakim Bonnier was a Swedish Formula 1 driver, born on January 31, 1930. He made his debut in the Formula 1 World Championship in 1956 and became known for his versatility and competitive spirit. Over the course of his career, Bonnier participated in 83 Formula 1 races, securing a total of two podium finishes.
Bonnier drove for several prominent teams, including Ferrari, BRM, and his own privately-operated Bonnier Racing Team. His best season came in 1962 when he finished sixth in the drivers' championship standings. He was known for his determination on the track and his ability to remain competitive even in less powerful cars.
Tragically, Bonner's life was cut short in an accident during the 1972 24 Hours of Le Mans, where he was racing in a different capacity. His contributions to motorsport have left a lasting legacy, and he is remembered as a pioneer who helped pave the way for future generations of Swedish racing drivers.
