Joe Bugel, born on March 10, 1940, in the United States, is a former American football coach and player best known for his contributions in the National Football League (NFL). A standout offensive lineman, Bugel played college football at the University of Southern California and was selected by the Detroit Lions in the 1962 NFL Draft. Throughout his playing career, which lasted until 1965, he also had stints with the San Diego Chargers and the Atlanta Falcons.
Bugel gained widespread recognition as a coach, particularly during his tenure with the Washington Redskins in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
