Joel Garner, born on December 16, 1952, in St. John, Barbados, is a former West Indies cricketer known for his exceptional fast bowling. Standing at 6 feet 8 inches, Garner was a formidable presence on the field and became renowned for his ability to deliver bouncers at high speeds, particularly with his distinctive bowling action. He made his Test debut in 1977 against India and went on to represent the West Indies in 58 Test matches over a decade.
Throughout his career, Garner was a pivotal member of the West Indies cricket team during its dominant era in the late 1970s and 1980s. He achieved an impressive record, taking 259 wickets in Test cricket at an average of 20.97, making him one of the most effective bowlers of his time.
