Biography
Joel Ward is a Canadian ice hockey player, born on December 2, 1980, in North York, Ontario. He played junior hockey for the Mississauga IceDogs in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) before advancing to professional play in the National Hockey League (NHL). Ward was originally not selected in the NHL Entry Draft, but he captured attention through his performance in the ECHL and AHL, eventually making his NHL debut with the Minnesota Wild in 2006.
Over his NHL career, which spanned from 2006 to 2017, Ward played for several teams, including the Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators, Washington Capitals, and San Jose Sharks. He is best known for his clutch performances during the playoffs, particularly in 2012 when he scored the series-winning goal in Game 7 against the Boston Bruins while with the Capitals, propelling the team to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Ward’s standout playoff performances earned him respect as a significant contributor to his teams' successes.
