John Ogrodnick, born on June 20, 1959, in Embrun, Ontario, Canada, is a retired professional ice hockey player best known for his tenure as a left wing in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected 10th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft after a successful junior career in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Cornwall Royals. Ogrodnick made his NHL debut during the 1980-81 season, quickly establishing himself as a skilled scorer.
Throughout his career, Ogrodnick played for several teams, including the Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, and the Quebec Nordiques.
