John Stevens, born on May 4, 1966, in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, is a retired professional ice hockey player known for his defensive prowess and leadership on the ice. He gained prominence as a defenseman during his time in junior hockey with the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) before being drafted 134th overall by the New York Rangers in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. Stevens made his NHL debut during the 1986-87 season and subsequently played for several teams, including the Washington Capitals and the Philadelphia Flyers.
Throughout his career, Stevens was recognized for his solid two-way play and contributed to his teams' defensive strategies. He played a total of 624 regular season games in the NHL, recording 45 goals and 173 assists.
