Biography
Jussi Jokinen, born on April 1, 1983, in Kalajoki, Finland, is a former professional ice hockey forward known for his exceptional playmaking ability and scoring touch. Jokinen began his career in Finland’s top league (SM-liiga) with KalPa, where he quickly made a name for himself before transitioning to the North American professional circuit in 2005. He was selected by the Dallas Stars in the sixth round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, which marked the beginning of his successful NHL journey.
Throughout his career, Jokinen played for several NHL teams, including the Dallas Stars, Tampa Bay Lightning, Carolina Hurricanes, New York Rangers, and Los Angeles Kings. He became notably recognized for his performance during the 2005-06 NHL season, where he recorded a career-high 65 points with the Hurricanes, contributing significantly to their playoff run. Additionally, he was known for his clutch scoring, excelling in shootouts and showcasing his impressive offensive skills.
In international play, Jokinen represented Finland in multiple competitions, including the IIHF World Championships and the 2014 Winter Olympics, helping his team secure a bronze medal in Sochi. After concluding his NHL career, he returned to play professionally in Finland for teams such as JYP and Kärpät, further enhancing his legacy in Finnish ice hockey.
