Biography
Kevin Sumlin, born on August 3, 1964, in Brewton, Alabama, is a former American football coach and player who made significant contributions to the sport. Known for his offensive acumen and innovative strategies, Sumlin played quarterback at the University of Houston, where he was part of a potent passing attack under coach Jack Pardee. After completing his college career, he transitioned into coaching, beginning at the high school and assistant collegiate levels.
Sumlin gained significant recognition as the head coach of the Houston Cougars from 2008 to 2011, where he led the team to a Conference USA championship and a historic victory in the 2012 TicketCity Bowl. His success at Houston propelled him to the head coaching position at Texas A&M University, where he coached from 2012 to 2017.
