Biography
Kirk Urso was an American professional soccer player born on March 6, 1990, in Downers Grove, Illinois. He began his soccer career at the University of North Carolina, where he played college soccer for three years, earning significant accolades, including All-ACC honors and helping the Tar Heels win the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship in 2011.
After graduating, Urso was selected in the first round of the 2012 MLS SuperDraft by the Columbus Crew. He made his professional debut later that season and quickly became known for his skillful midfield play and leadership on the field, securing a regular spot in the starting lineup during his tenure with the team.
Tragically, Urso's life was cut short when he passed away on August 5, 2013, at the age of 23. His legacy endures through the impact he made on and off the field, remembered for his passion for soccer and his contributions to the Columbus Crew, as well as the broader soccer community.
