Kyle Cumiskey is a Canadian ice hockey defenseman born on December 2, 1986, in Abbotsford, British Columbia. He began his junior career in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Vancouver Giants, where he played from 2003 to 2006. Cumiskey was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the seventh round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, marking the beginning of his professional career.
