Biography
Lance Rentzel, born on October 14, 1943, in Dallas, Texas, was an American football wide receiver who played primarily for the Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings in the National Football League (NFL). Rentzel attended the University of Oklahoma, where he played college football and earned All-American honors. He was selected in the second round of the 1965 NFL Draft by the Cowboys.
Throughout his NFL career, Rentzel became known for his speed and agility, making significant contributions to his teams' successes during the late 1960s and early 1970s. He was a key member of the Cowboys' roster during their Super Bowl V appearance and helped the Vikings reach Super Bowl VIII. Rentzel finished his career with impressive statistics, including 275 receptions for 4,209 yards and 29 touchdowns.
After retiring from professional football in 1972, Rentzel's legacy was somewhat overshadowed by his off-field controversies, including a high-profile incident in which he faced legal issues related to personal conduct.
