Biography
Lawrence Timmons, born on May 14, 1986, in Florence, South Carolina, is a former professional American football linebacker. He played college football at Florida State University, where he was recognized for his versatile defensive skills. Following an impressive collegiate career, Timmons was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft.
During his tenure with the Steelers from 2007 to 2016, Timmons established himself as a key player in the team's defense, contributing to their Super Bowl XLIII victory in 2009. Over his nine seasons with the team, he recorded 741 tackles, 27 sacks, and 11 interceptions, earning Pro Bowl selections in 2014 and 2015. Timmons's leadership and performance were instrumental in the Steelers' consistent competitiveness during his era.
In 2017, Timmons signed with the Miami Dolphins, further extending his professional career. Although his time with the Dolphins was marked by controversy, including a brief suspension, he eventually returned to the field and contributed to the team.
