Biography
Lee Fogolin, born on February 7, 1955, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, is a former professional ice hockey defenceman known for his physical style of play and leadership on the ice. He was drafted 7th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1973 NHL Amateur Draft after a standout junior career with the Edmonton Oil Kings. Fogolin made his NHL debut in the 1974-75 season and quickly established himself as a reliable defender.
Throughout his career, Fogolin played for several teams, including the Buffalo Sabres, the New York Islanders, and the Edmonton Oilers. He achieved significant success with the Oilers, contributing to the team’s dynasty in the 1980s as they captured four consecutive Stanley Cup championships from 1984 to 1988. Fogolin was recognized for his defensive skills and was awarded the NHL's Mark Messier Leadership Award in 1988.
