Biography
Lee Roy Jordan, born on April 27, 1941, in Excel, Alabama, is a former professional American football linebacker renowned for his career with the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at the University of Alabama, where he earned All-American honors and helped lead the Crimson Tide to a national championship in 1962. Jordan was selected by the Cowboys in the first round of the 1963 NFL Draft, where he quickly established himself as a key player in the team's defense.
During his 14-season career with the Cowboys, Jordan was a pivotal figure in the franchise's success, participating in five Super Bowls and being a vital component of the "Doomsday Defense." He was named to the Pro Bowl three times (1968, 1969, 1971) and was recognized as a first-team All-Pro following the 1972 season. His leadership and performance on the field helped the Cowboys secure their first Super Bowl title in Super Bowl VI.
